CDF Poco Gun Smoke is a beautiful well
balanced and well mannered foundation
bred quarter horse stallion who passes
along these same qualities to his foals.
He is registered as a buckskin with the
dun factors including black points,
dorsal strip, shoulder shadowing and
face mask. He has been DNA typed and
confirmed to be double EE, homozygous
for the black gene. This means he can
not ever sire a red based foal. Poco's
offspring can go in many directions as
he is registered AQHA, and eligible for
buckskin color registries and foundation
registries.
Poco's bloodlines are
foundation ranch and working cow horse.
He is certified as 93.847% foundation
bred. Please take note: Impressive
Teddy listed in Poco's pedigree is not
from the halter bloodlines that carries
the genetic defect for HYPP.
Poco
doesn't have a lot of show experience
because he has been busy earning his
keep in the breeding shed and working on
the ranch. Just for fun I entered him
in the halter classes at the 2007
Houston and 2008 San Antonio AQHA shows.
He placed 4th in each division in
Houston and 3rd in the San Antonio show.
He also took first place in his division
at the smaller AQHA show at the Fort
Bend County Fair. I was very proud that
I could take a working ranch horse like
Poco straight out of the pasture and do
so well. Poco's conformation is the
result of pure genetics, not hot
walkers, neck sweats and massive amounts
of feed.
I believe there is no
better advertisement for a breeding
stallion than to see the results in his
offspring. Poco breeds true to his form
as you can see in pictures of his get.
