Now jumping 3'6" fence. Phil naturally knows how to pick his spots to the jumps! You need to see how he tucks his knees and hind legs over the jump; a natural to the fences. Phil thinks and learns with each jump; I love his brain! No rushing, just thinking (I love horses that can think). Started jumping 2'9" courses w/changes and he was bored. Free jumped 4 feet with ease! This guy adjusts to the rider's level. He will calmly take my daughter around a 2' course and then rev it up for an advanced rider to jump 3'6". New Youtube videos of a 10 year old, advanced beg. w-t-c-hand gallop, transistions, checking the mail, going through a chute, around the world in the saddle, standing in the saddle. This guy has a GREAT brain! No spook, shy, bolt, or any other unsafe behaviors. I would not let my child ride an unsafe horse (Note: this child is an experienced rider). How would you like to own a piece of Kentucky Derby history? Phil is an Own son of 1999 Kentucky Derby winner, Charasmatic, Champion 3-year-old colt, and Horse of the Year. He is so well bred he is Breeder’s Cup Nominated. Phil is a ride on the buckle kind of guy and “stick and spur quiet”. Guaranteed or I’ll gladly buy him back! He is very affectionate (but not rude), sweet, and will tuck his head under your arm to get a muzzle rub. He absolutely loves the trails-would be a lovely foxhunter-good with hunting dogs. I haven’t found an obstacle yet that Phil didn’t navigate through, under, over, or around without hesitation. He enthusiastically tackles ravines, banks, creeks, logs, heavy brush, forest critters, hunting dogs, you name it, he does it, and he will jump anything. Phil hacks out alone or in a group and is always a gentleman. He has been hauled to Hitchcock Woods and Lakeview Plantation for group trail rides. I ride him in just a rope halter at home and have even ridden him bridleless for a horsemanship clinic demo. He clips, cross-ties, ground ties, hobbles, bathes, vacuums, easy to catch, has great ground manners, well mannered for vet/ farrier, has no vices, no injuries, no health issues, and has been taught some tricks such as bowing. He has good hoof walls for a TB. Phil has had 8 months of extensive professional training from hobbling to trail obstacles to learning entertainment tricks to training level dressage (shoulder in/shoulder out, very soft). He has been hauled to many shows and we have always brought home ribbons. Phil even brought home a Championship from his very first show. He has been shown in halter, equitation, hunter, western (for fun) and even some gymkhana games and now THE JUMPERS. He will stand quietly tied to the trailer all day at a show and doesn’t fret in new surroundings (will eat/drink away from home). Phil is the same ride whether ridden everyday or once a month-great horse for those with busy schedules. You can bring him out of the pasture and saddle up without having to lunge. I believe Phil would do well in Pony Club (D3 & up), Hunter/Jumpers, foxhunting, or as a pleasure horse. He is beginner quiet, but will only consider selling to a confident, young adult if they have a trainer. He has a collected rocking horse canter and an even better hand gallop. Phil has been well schooled on the flat to include flying lead changes. Phil’s true talent is over fences and cross country. He would be perfect for my daughter, but it doesn’t make sense to keep him in the pasture until she is ready for long stirrup. I was asked to keep a journal on Phil’s training for a publishing company. The journal has been submitted (Trafalgar Square Books publisher) and is available to the public as a training guide to OTTBs from the ground up featuring Phil's transformation from track to sport horse. I spent 30 days building a solid education on the ground with Phil before I even stepped foot in the stirrup. His education was done properly. Phil has clean x-rays and passed his pre-purchase exam with flying colors. He is UTD on all vaccinations, de worming, dental, and farrier care. I also know Phil’s entire history from how he got his name to his trainer on the track. His trainer on the track said he was a feel good horse and this is true. You will be hard pressed to find another OTTB that has had this amount of ground work for respect, calm temperament, breeding, color, and typey hunter looks all rolled into one horse for the asking price;his price will only increase. How many OTTBs have been trained to hobble, ground tie, or drag a fallen tree across the pasture? There are absolutely NO holes in his foundation. He is NOT being advertised as a finished horse or a child's horse, but I have done all the hard work for you already. I will pass on the true novel written about Phil’s Sire to his new owner. The book provides some neat insight to Phil’s character. Phil’s Sire was just recently featured on the cover of The Horse journal. I do ask that Phil’s new owner(s) keep in touch; he is such a neat guy. Serious inquiries only.
