He's smart and brave and willing to do or try anything as long as he knows his rider is with him. I believe he would perform well as a long-distance trail riding horse, due to his smooth job and sharp mind. Experienced with cattle, deer, cars and farm machinery, highway traffic, busy intersections, parades, local hunter/jumper circuit shows, indoor and outdoor stadium jumping, cross-country obstacles. He loads and travels quietly and ties to post or picket. Trail ridden long distances on pavement and gravel, rocky ground of varied elevation. Goes through water. Neck reins and also steers with direct ("plow") rein in Hunter Undersaddle, Dressage, and JUmpers up to 2'3". Pinned in first shows over fences. Primarily ridden Western out on trail, and is truly neck reined trained. He moves off your leg, side-passes, and bends. He is currently ridden and used as part of a youth lesson and riding program. No beginners here. Rider must understand the "mule mentality" and met them halfway. You do your part, he does his. Light to the aids, rider needs a controlled leg and hand. Leave leather halter on. Catch with grain. "Coyote" is super smart, easy to handle, lead, tie, groom, tack. In addition to his correct and stocky build, he has lots of sense and is easy to train and work with.
